Quality of the patterns

Our pattern designer (with over 15 years of professional experience) creates professional patterns that you can enjoy for years to come. We work according to German industry standards, which guarantees high quality. Our patterns undergo a thorough testing process before we go on sale.

But what does that actually mean – German industrial standards?

Size charts & fit

We want you to feel confident in our fit and sizing. Naturally, a loose-fitting blouse will wear differently than a tailored one—even in the same size—but the underlying body shape we design for remains consistent.

That’s why, in line with industry standards in Germany, we base our sizing on standardized body measurement charts derived from German consumer data. We collaborate with a globally leading company that regularly conducts large-scale serial measurements across thousands of individuals in Germany.

If you’re someone who often customizes patterns, you’ll find that with naeyen, your usual adjustments will stay consistent across all our designs.

Sample pieces, test sewing, design examples

Each of our patterns undergoes extensive testing. We begin by creating digital 3D samples to assess how the garment fits across our range of sizes and whether the design aligns with our vision on the 3D body.

Next, we produce physical samples in various sizes. These are worn by our fit models and closely evaluated: How does the garment feel? How does it fit? Does it allow for freedom of movement?

Once we’re satisfied with the fit and pattern, we create final design samples and photograph them. As a final step, we collaborate with our wonderful test seamstresses, who thoroughly review each pattern.

Do all pattern companies work like this?

Not always. Accessing professional body measurement data from leading companies is costly—and so is the work that goes into using it. Fitting with live models, producing multiple sample pieces, and refining the design all require significant time, expertise, and resources. Providers focused solely on quick profits often skip these steps.

In particular, be cautious of sellers on large platforms offering AI-generated patterns in bulk at very low prices. These patterns may lack proper testing, and it's often clear that the final sewn garment doesn’t match the design sketch.

A reliable pattern should always include both a body measurement chart and a finished garment measurement table. This is the only way to gauge how closely the garment will fit your body.
